The brief

Author Ross Garner approached me to design the book cover for his debut sci-fi novel — a self-published title needing a cover that could hold its own on Amazon thumbnails, at book-club gatherings and against the towering giants of the sci-fi genre.

After reading the synopsis, I immersed myself in exploring visual themes — drawing inspiration from both classic golden-age sci-fi jackets and the more cinematic, contemporary end of the genre.

The outcome

Several cover concepts were presented and together we landed on the final direction. From there I delivered the finished cover artwork plus the full interior book layout — typesetting, chapter openers and running heads across the entire manuscript.
